Hello 1660 League Representatives and Governors,
As everyone should now be aware the 1660 is going to be making significant changes in order to expand the league and better serve our member associations. Part of this process is to rewrite our Bylaws and Regulations that will be voted on at the next AGM coming up on April 24th as posted. We are asking that all our member associations review the “Proposed Bylaws and Regulations” that we have prepared and notify us of any proposed modifications or additions. Remember that we have to begin somewhere and it may be difficult to predict all the scenarios. These bylaws and regulations will be the starting point for our league in the new proposed structure (Located under Bylaws and Regulatons on the Website).

We are asking that you, as 1660 Association League Representatives, take these Bylaws and Regulations to your board for review and input. The following is our proposed timeline for the approval of the league Bylaws and Regulations:
1. Complete the write up of the Bylaws and Regulations (Keeping Bylaws and Regulations as Separate documents)
2. Send out to Membership for review and comments or approval
3. Make necessary Changes to the Bylaws based on review or comments.
4. Re-Send out to the Membership the revised Bylaws and Regulations for review and final approval.
5. Once the Bylaws would be available, where we were confident that they would be accepted at the AGM, we should send these down to Hockey Alberta where they have offered to go through them to ensure that they would be approved by the Hockey Alberta Board of Directors.
6. If they see any issues we would have to correct these and either send them out to the membership or simply have them voted on at the AGM.
7. Once approved at the AGM our League Bylaws and regulations would then have to be submitted to Hockey Alberta Board of Directors for approval. The Board of Directors meet in Late April and then again in June after the AGM. We would have to have them submitted no later than Late May or if possible in early April.
8. The Board of Directors would then approve the Bylaws and we would be good to go. If there is any problems with these bylaws they would have to be amended and then a special meeting would be required with the Members for another approval. They would then have to return to the Board of Directors for approval at their next meeting. Basically we have to be right the first time.
If you have any proposed changes could you please forward them to president@1660.ab.ca and vp@1660.ab.ca no later than MARCH 20th, 2010. We will then forward these to all the member associations for approval. We would really like to get these really close so that the discussion at the AGM is minimal.
Thank you for your input.
Regards,
1660 League
